How Much Does Social Media Management Cost in India in 2026?
Social MediaWhat does social media management cost in India?
We get asked this on almost every first call, and the honest answer is "it depends", which is useless, so here are ballpark ranges. These are what we see across the market, not our price list, so treat them as a sanity check rather than a promise.
- Freelancer or one-person studio: roughly ₹10,000 to ₹30,000 a month. Fine for a single platform, a few posts a week, and a founder who is willing to give feedback fast.
- Small agency: roughly ₹25,000 to ₹75,000 a month. Usually includes strategy, a content calendar, design, reels and monthly reporting.
- Established or premium agency: ₹75,000 to ₹2,00,000 and up. You are paying for a team (strategist, editor, designer, community manager) and often paid media management on top.
Paid ad spend is not in any of those numbers. If someone quotes you one price for "management plus ads" without separating the ad budget, ask them to split it.
What actually drives the price?
Three things move the number more than anything else.
- Video. A static post takes an hour. A properly shot and edited reel can take a day. If you want four to eight reels a month, that is where most of the cost lives.
- Number of platforms. Instagram plus LinkedIn is not double the work of Instagram alone, but it is not free either. Each platform wants its own format and tone.
- Response and reporting. Community management (replying to comments and DMs quickly) and honest monthly reports both take real hours. Cheap plans quietly drop them.
What should be included in a fair quote?
Ask for the deliverables in numbers. "Regular posting" is not a deliverable. This is:
- Number of posts, carousels and reels per month
- Who shoots and edits the video, and whether shoots are included
- A written content calendar you approve before anything goes live
- Community management hours or response time
- A monthly report that shows enquiries and leads, not only likes and reach
- Who owns the accounts, the raw footage and the design files if you leave
That last point matters more than people think. We have seen businesses lose access to their own Instagram page because it was set up on an agency's email.
Why the cheapest quote is often the most expensive
A ₹6,000 a month package can only work if the agency spends almost no time on your brand. That means recycled templates, stock captions and a posting schedule nobody checks. You will not get a disaster, you will get nothing, and six months later you will have paid for silence.
The reverse is also true. A very high quote does not guarantee better work. What you want is a price that matches a clear list of deliverables and a person you can actually reach.
What results should you expect, and when?
Social media is slow at the start. Give any plan at least three months before judging it, and judge it on enquiries and leads, not follower count. In our work with Beverly Hills in Indore we tracked walk-in enquiries against the content calendar from the first month, which is why we could see what was working. You can read the numbers in the Beverly Hills case study.
If an agency promises viral growth in 30 days, walk away. Nobody can promise that honestly.
How to keep the cost sensible
- Start with one platform where your customers already are, and do it properly.
- Batch your shoots. One well-planned day can produce a month of reels.
- Put the money into fewer, better pieces instead of daily posting for the sake of it.
- Ask for a three-month agreement with a review at the end, not a twelve-month lock-in.
Frequently asked questions
Is social media management worth it for a small business?
It is if you have a clear next step for people who reach out, such as a booking form, a WhatsApp number or a shop. Without that, you are paying to create attention with nowhere for it to go.
Are ad costs included in the monthly fee?
Almost never. Management fees pay for people's time. Ad spend goes directly to the platform and should be billed or budgeted separately.
How many posts per month should I expect?
For a small business, 12 to 16 well-made pieces a month (a mix of reels, carousels and single posts) beats 30 rushed ones. Ask for the exact number in writing.
Should I hire a freelancer or an agency?
A good freelancer is great when you need one platform and can give quick feedback. An agency makes sense when you need strategy, video, design and reporting to work together.
